The coastal city of Tabarka is a small city of the littoral whose festival having for under title "not bronzing idiotic" made famous and allowed that one discovered a site of any beauty thanks to his rock coast which certain points forms needles of stones and arches natural. Tabarka, which is ink a small seaside resort, must experience in the near future a very great development.

Old counter phenician from where it draws his name, Tabarka, with the Roman fall of Carthage, it was distinguished already for its fishing with the coral which it practises still nowadays. Tabarka became in 1540 to 1741 property of a family génoise, Lomellini, which obtains it thanks to the services rendered to the Dragut ray in fight with Andrea Doria.
This family had the monopoly of fishing to the coral. Many Italian fishermen followed it: they became "Tabarchini", name which during very a long time in this area indicated all the foreigners génériquement.

During the Second World War, the French defended starting from Tabarka, the Algerian border against the Germans.

Nowadays Tabarka, is distinguished apart from its artisanal production from coral, weaving and roots of heather which are used to model splendid pipes, by its production of cork, exported or treated on the spot.
